5 Indian streams to binge watch

Let’s adapt to the new normal where our happening weekends are Netflix and Chill. Both Netflix and Amazon Prime have good libraries of desi Indian content. Without beating around the bush let’s jump to the list of shows/movies one must watch.

  1. Made in Heaven (2019)

Number of seasons – 1

Number of episodes – 9

Streaming on Amazon Prime

Made in heaven narrates stories happening during big fat indian weddings and the people who organise those events. Created by Zoya Akthar and Rima Kagti is about Karan and Tara who decide to start a wedding planning business. The introduction will sound similar to the bollywood masala movie Band Baaja Baraat but let me assure you it is nothing like you have ever seen before. It puts light to a ugly side of Delhi life yet a beautiful face of society and its people.

2. Paatal lok (2020)

Number of Seasons – 1

Number of episodes – 9

Genre – Crime Fiction

Streaming on Amazon Prime

Paatal Lok, which literally translates to underworld is a story of solving an attempt to murder case. If you are aware of the political controversies in the country then joining those dots makes the story further interesting.

3. Thappad (2020)

This Anubhav Sinha movie, as the name suggests, is about one thappad and how everyone around manages to normalise that act in the name of happy married life. In this time of Kabir Singh and Arjun Reddy, this movie tries to make an impact on the society.

4. Super Deluxe (2019)

Genre – Action/Dark Comedy

Streaming on Netflix

This Tamil movie is supposed to be one of the best movies released in India in recent years. This movie makes you think about your perspective towards life. It’s objective seems to be to place the issues prevailing in the society in a very subtle manner.

5. Choked Paisa Bolta Hai (2020)

Genre-Drama

Streaming on Netflix

Choked is a dark tale of unexpected turns which keeps you at the edge until you realise that you are actually watching a comedy drama not a thriller. The movie is simply awesome which plays with your instincts and makes you realise that you are not watching a typical bollywood flick.
